Huang Weixin is a Chair Professor and Doctoral Supervisor at the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC). He obtained his bachelor's degree from USTC in 1996 and his doctoral degree from the Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) in 2001. Subsequently, he conducted postdoctoral research at the University of Texas at Austin (USA) and research as an Alexander von Humboldt Fellow at the Fritz-Haber-Institut der Max-Planck-Gesellschaft (Germany). He joined USTC as a professor in December 2004 and was selected into the CAS Talent Program.
His research field is catalytic surface chemistry. He has successively won awards including the "Young Investigator Award" at the 13th International Congress on Catalysis, Alexander von Humboldt Fellow of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation (Germany), "Young Faculty Career Award" from the USTC Alumni Foundation, "Youth Science and Technology Innovation Award" from the Chinese Vacuum Society, "Youth Chemistry Award" from the Chinese Chemical Society, "Catalysis Youth Award" from the Catalysis Committee of the Chinese Chemical Society, "Young Faculty Achievement Award" from the USTC Alumni Foundation, "Humboldt Research Award" from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation (Germany), and was funded by the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars of the National Natural Science Foundation of China.
He once served as the leader of the "Structure-Property Relationships of Advanced Catalytic Materials: Experiments and Theory" Innovation Team of the Ministry of Education, and the head of the CAS-Max Planck Society Partner Group for "Structure-Property Relationships in Model Systems of Heterogeneous Catalysis". Currently, he is an Editor of Applied Surface Science, an Editorial Board Member of journals including Catalysis Letters, Topics in Catalysis, Science China-Chemistry (both Chinese and English editions), and The Journal of Physical Chemistry A/B/C, as well as a member of the Catalysis Committee of the Chinese Chemical Society.
