Zhifeng Wang , an associate professor at the School of Civil Engineering, Central South University of Forestry and Technology, has long been dedicated to the theory and application of modern bamboo and wood structures, as well as the innovation in green transportation materials and bridge engineering. He focuses on research into the high-value utilization of bamboo and the low-carbon upgrading of engineering structures. The bamboo-steel fabricated expansion joint developed under his leadership breaks through the bottlenecks of traditional technologies. Through the "rigid-flexible combination" of bamboo and steel, it achieves the dual advantages of a 40% increase in bearing capacity and a 30% reduction in vehicle impact noise. Equipped with a nano flame-retardant coating and Class I strong corrosion resistance technology, it achieves a 10-year maintenance-free effect. Relevant achievements have been applied in scenarios such as the construction of small and medium-span bridges, municipal rapid maintenance, and emergency rescue. He has participated in multiple provincial and ministerial-level scientific research projects and once won the Hunan Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award. His research not only promotes the efficient application of bamboo in the engineering field but also provides key technical support for the green and low-carbon development of transportation infrastructure, and deeply practices the concept of integrating industry, education, research, and application.
