Professor (Yuelu Scholar Leading Position) and Doctoral Supervisor of the College of Information Science and Engineering, Hunan University, Director of the Institute of Supercomputing and Cloud Computing, Academic Leader of the High-Performance Computing Application Software Technology Engineering Research Center at the National Supercomputing Changsha Center, and Distinguished Endowed Professor of the State University of New York. He obtained his Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Tsinghua University in 1985 and his Doctor of Philosophy in Computer Science from the University of Houston, USA in 1990. He has been elected as a Member of the European Academy of Sciences, a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, and an IEEE Fellow. He has received the Distinguished Professor Medal of the State University of New York and the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award.
His research interests cover cloud computing, fog computing, mobile edge computing, heterogeneous computing systems and high-performance computing. He has published more than 1,130 academic papers, including 825 SCI journal papers and 385 papers in IEEE/ACM Transactions and Journals. He has co-authored academic works such as *Scheduling Parallel Applications on Heterogeneous Distributed Systems*. He has presided over the Key Program of the National Natural Science Foundation of China titled "Scalable Parallel Algorithms and Optimization Methods for Large-Scale Heterogeneous Many-Core Systems Oriented to Laser Fusion Simulation" and major National High-Tech R&D Program (863 Program) projects of the Ministry of Science and Technology. He was awarded the First Prize of Hunan Provincial Natural Science Award (2020) and the IEEE Cloud Computing Technical Committee Research Impact Award (2022). He serves as an editorial board member for 18 international journals including IEEE Transactions on Parallel and Distributed Systems, and has served as the chair of more than 20 international academic conferences such as the IEEE International Conference on High Performance Computing and Communications (2019).
